i.t.a. Remediation Protocols

The i.t.a. Literacy Clinic at Saint Mary's University features two powerful techniques that are supported by substantial research in the field of reading disabilities (dyslexia):

        1)  Development of phonological awareness by linking analysis of speech sounds to the symbols that represent those sounds.  i.t.a. is ideal for development of the phonological skills needed for successful decoding because there is a separate symbol for each of the 44 speech sounds in English.  (WRITING ACCURACY PROTOCOL)

        2) Development of reading accuracy and fluency through Repeated Oral Assisted Reading.  (ROAR PROTOCOL)
